It has been a great experience sketching the artists of the Tapestry Opera’s productions in the theatre , with the idea of developing the pieces later in the studio.
As I have been able to view each production on multiple occasions , I developed a sense of the emotionality of each character which aided me in the creation of the accompanying visuals.
Highlighted paintings are from Naomi’s Road and Oxana G, both Operas with a social justice theme. Naomi’s Road dealt with the Japanese internment camps in Canada and Oxana G dealt with the sex trade. The portraits are in oils and are various sizes.
